  • Fushimi Market is a Japanese food market and upstairs eating area complete with microwave. It’s been here for two years and is on the ground floor. There is no food court here only a room upstairs where one can eat where there is a microwave. It is choc-a-block filled with all kinds of foods, condiments, sodas, sparkling waters, biscuits, chocolates to name a few. Naturally they have fresh sushi and other foods like dumplings that one can eat upstairs or take out. Hua Chen was kind and helpful when I bought sesame oil and soy sauces wrapping the bottles in separate paper bags. HK, the manager, was equally pleasant. I bought pork and vegetable gyoza and climbed the stairs to eat. There is another location in Times Square. Customers can also use the clean restroom (washroom). A lot of the customers are people working in the area.
  • Good for a quick bite or lunch. Food Mae fresh everyday. You can get a decent lunch under $20. After 6pm there’s a discount for most of the sushi and sashimi. Seating in the back.
  • I really liked that they had a wide variety of prepared foods ready to eat. It's also great that there's a space where you can sit down and enjoy your meal right there! We tried the yakisoba, but unfortunately it wasn’t very good—the noodles were overcooked and that was pretty much all there was to it. I had the vegetarian one, and my partner had another kind (I can't remember the name), but he felt the same—too much pasta and not much flavor. That said, the mini-market was great for finding Japanese ingredients!
  • Intentionally selling expired products with no labels. My friend and I were visiting New York. On our first day, we passed by this shop and went in to look around. I bought a $3.99 Coke and shared it with my friends. A little while later, my friend picked out some soda, and at the register she noticed they were expired. The casher said that's why it was so cheap, and it’s not illegal to sell them. The soda was cheap, but there was no signage on the shelf at all, and the expired products looked exactly like normal items. We walked out of the store stunned. Suddenly, I remembered I should check my own Coke too — and it turned out to be almost 4 months past its expiration date, and every one of us had already drunk from it. I had to go back to ask for a refund. The cashier was very reluctant, checked the bottle over and over, and said they normally don't accept returns without a receipt and this time they were making an exception for me, as if I had done something wrong and they were doing me a huge favor. Who keeps the receipt from buying a Coke? Especially at a shop that looks clean and polished, who would have thought there were so many expired products?
  • Great selection of Asian ingredients, snacks, drinks, and ready-to-eat food. Inside the mart, there’s also a bubble tea shop. They have an eating area upstairs, which is convenient to grab a quick bite. Some of the prices for their ready-to-eat foods (like the tofu sushi) were a little steep in my opinion. All in all, great place to shop for Asian groceries!
