Overview

The izakaya approach to drinking and dining as arrived in Rockville Centre at MEET BAR & IZAKAYA.

Translated literally as “stay saké shop”, izakayas are essentially Japanese taverns which are integral to the culture, food, and nightlife in Japan - they are the casual hideouts where you can linger with good friends over tasty food & plenty of cold drinks! Expect a chatty atmosphere and an upbeat energy once you enter MEET.

And when it comes to cuisine, the rules are loose and open to interpretation at izakayas - and likely a reason why their followers find them easy to love. The choices are always many: At MEET, you might try something raw, something fried, something pickled, something skewered, something simmered, or something grilled, perhaps. What ties it all together is that the choices are all tasty, drink-friendly, and meant to be shared. Come explore!

  • Really enjoyed the food and drinks here. Really great service as well, and good prices. The short rib ramen was perfect, and I'd definitely recommend the lycheetini from the cocktails menu. Shout out to Meka also he was an awesome bartender and very attentive. I highly recommend checking this place out.
  • As you will see from my photos the food was so good I only remembered to take photo after I started eating. I came alone and food was great. I don’t usually eat a lot but I wanted to keep eating. I needed a pick me up and this was exactly what I needed. Drinks were awesome too, I tried their geisha flights and their version of a whiskey sour (I think made by owner which was best I’ve ever had). Also had their chocolate cake, forgot exactly what it’s called but it was delicious. Everyone was so friendly, I would definitely be returning.
  • Friendly, accomodating and patient staff! The atmosphere is cute and cozy with ambient lighting. Angie was our server and she helped me aid in my dining decisions very well! I can be pretty indecisive so I appreciate her kindness and patience with me! She’s an Absolute sweet heart and I hope we have her again the next time we come by! Amy is the manager and she was also very engaging, polite, and helpful! They were also very accomodating of allergy concerns! The food is affordable, fresh, well seasoned, well portioned and delicious! Some of the best ramen I’ve had in a while. I got the spicy miso with the chashu pork. I’m a big yakitori fan. The skewers come 3 per order and the pork belly was by far my favorite along with the steak! I have to come back to try the cocktails. They look so good! I stuck with the hot sake and it hit the spot! We ended up taking home quite a bit of our food since we were all pretty full but that didn’t stop us from ordering desert. The chocolate cake is like a ferrero rocher ! My partner and I got the cappuccino ice cream desert (I cannot remember the exact name) but it was absolutely addictive! We will definitely be back! Give this place a try!
  • Me and my boyfriend have been coming to meet for over a year now after we stumbled upon it last minute before an event and it was one of the best restaurant experiences. We love Japanese food and this is always a go to spot for us here in RVC. Everything on the menu is SO GOOD. We’ve sat at a table and at the bar and both experiences were top tier. If you’re looking for a cozy Japanese spot with unique drinks and a variety of amazing Japanese food, I would definitely recommend coming to meet. We will continue coming to meet all year round as long as it’s around.
  • Amazingly authentic and fresh Japanese street food. Felt like I was in Ropongi Tokyo. Super NYC / Tokyo vibe. Our server Michelle was a true professional. Anticipated our needs and knew the menu inside out. Big smiles too! Try the lamb, ribeye, and porkbelly charcoal flamed skeweres and yellowtail rice pop. Basil fried rice was straight from Bangkok. Enjoying the music mix now with a tap IPA.
